Weekly Events

|

I have decided that I will post events weekly and label the as such I will try to update the post daily as i get more information on events, and activities so I would check back daily to get the skinny on all the latest happenings

Do you enjoy the smooth sounds of real a soulful voice? Do you sometimes find rap, hip hop and Beyonce's mainstream music unfulfilling? Well here are some events coming up that are guaranteed to fill that void.

Lisa McClendon Live (christian neosoul artist) February

Deja Blue Supper Club

Also do a search for the Neosoul lounge group on FB

I am sitting in the house paralyzed with fear at the thought of driving in the snow...not because I can't drive in the snow (I'm from upstate NY), but rather because I hear people literally unable to back their cars out in this little bit of snow (folks 'round here can't drive in snow) and I needs my car so its probably best to let it melt a little more before I drive, but I digress......I'm bored and probably going a little stir crazy-perhaps I will go for a jog later-I gotta write about this story my friend just told me lets call her "Lisa":

Lisa: Girl I got all dressed up to go on a date with this guy (that she had never met) I put on some heels, make up, a cute little shirt, and he showed up in some basketball shorts, sneakers and a dingy t-shirt.

Me: What??@#

What is really going on in the dating scene these days? I mean really? And I'm not talking about the whole male-female thereare3timesmoreblackwomenthanblackmenavailable phenomenon. I'm talking about lets act like you have SOME social skills. Why in the world would anyone show up to a date dressed like he just got finished playing ball with his boys? The sad thing is I have had this happen to me as well. I have gone on a date and put the effort into looking good and the guy has showed up in a flannel shirt and wrinkled jeans he looked like he had just finished moving. Then later on wanted to know why things didn't work out. Now I by no means as saying that ALL men do this but the fact that even two would do this is disturbing. So I write all this to say Fellas when you are going on a date with a lady-particularly one you have never met put some effort in your appearance because whether or not it seems shallow IT MATTERS.

You will be promoted among everyone in the Seven Cities as a true Dime and invited to the Single of the week dinner held every two months where you will bask in the glory of others who are worthy of your presence!

There just aren't enough men

A friend sent this to me in my email and I thought it would be a good way to jump start the single life portion of my blog. Personally when I see things like this I am not sure what the goal of this discussion is? I mean does it really help single women in the relationship aspect of their lives? Cause to me it's just a little depressing....I'd rather see things like this

The Black History Month celebration can include attending a variety of events from parades, museums, and powerful discussions that illuminate the importance of the past and its influence on our future. The local colleges provide great resources and springboards for discussion, consider attending these events for both enlightenment and networking....

All The Single Ladies

Wednesday, January 27, 2010 |

So since this blog is new, I haven't revealed much about myself. Of course I am brand new to the seven cities scene,so I am not too aware of all the events that are going on in this area. However, I am also single. Any woman who is good at being single- and happy with being single, does things that she really enjoys, things that enhance her life, and make her a better person. I am working on this. I have to admit I have not yet mastered being single so I am working on it. So right now I am planning out my weekend. Thus far it includes hitting the gym, maybe hitting up one local club. Anybody else got any suggestions. If you are good at being single let me know what you do in your free time.

Introduction and Welcome

Tuesday, January 26, 2010 |

Ok so I have decided to start this blog. Mainly I am starting it because I am pretty new to the Hampton Roads area and I wanted to get out, meet people, and get a feel for the "vibe" of the "peninsula" and the "south side." See I feel special because I have already learned the lingo. Ha! Anyway I plan to visit every well known, underground, upscale, hole in the wall, old or new establishment in this area and the blog about it! And hopefully I will be able to hit up some of the events too. So any suggestions from anyone?
