Amateur Comedy Night at Mojo Bones

Thursday, April 29, 2010 |

Are you a funny person who loves to make others laugh? Do you like to see comedians but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it? Well Tuesday night I stepped out (because I love to laugh) to Mojo Bones where an amateur comedy night was hosted by Tru Brothers Entertainment. The featured comedians were Herman Hurston (former radio dj) and Fabian O'neil local funny man.

In the laid back setting, the crowd roared with laughter as the comedians hit the stage. The spot got so live that even the crowd participated by getting up on stage. Shout out to "cornbread" you know who you are. Amateur comedy was a riot! Check it out!

Hammerheads Variety Show

Friday, April 9, 2010 |

So last month (I know I'm a little late) I went to Break Out management's variety show at Hammerheads club on the strip hosted by Nita Hurt.  The show was a compilation of performances by several local artists.  The cost was $5.  First I have to say I think the idea of providing a venue for unsigned artists to perform is a great idea however, the crowd was a little thin.  It seems difficult to really pull in a good crowd in the 757 and I am wondering why.

Anyway, the talent was composed of, just to name a few, Romonta, Travo, Big Heavy Daddy, Playa Sta Shun, Young, Silverback Gorilla, Eastman, Daqwan B, and Malika Harris.  I have to say out of all of the talent I really enjoyed Malika Harris.  She has a smooth and soulful voice.   of course I have to admit that I have a slight preference for R&B over hip hop so perhaps I am not the best to judge.  Overall it was a pretty cool evening, being able to kick it to live music definitely changes the             scene.

Shout out to Supreme for the VIP tickets!    All questions concering the show and future shows can be directed towards Supreme at breakoutmgmt@yahoo.com.

YC- The Cynic

Saturday, February 27, 2010 |

So one thing that I love about being a Socialite is that it forces one to learn a little about everything that is going on on the social set. So I was checking my FB and got a message from this artists YC-the cynic with a link to his album. I listened to and fell in love. It reminds me of old school rap, watching fine basketball players hoop on the neighborhood court. Check him out we all need a break from the autotuned pop rap. This one is called State Id.

Ride With NELL

Friday, February 26, 2010 |

Nell Bio Summary:

The streets continue to talk; Nell is bursting onto the music scene with a growing population of fans. Using his mainstream sound and his smooth yet energetic delivery, every Nell song is a hit record. Without a Major Label backing his music, Nell’s songs such as “Step It Out” and “Do Ya Thang” have already received commercial radio airplay.

Nell’s hometown is none other than Norfolk, VA (Norview to narrow it down) where he has been for the last year working on his first full studio project with Super-Producer Nottz. He has also performed countless times at area night clubs and other Hip Hop concerts in the area and continues to draw a crowd.

From the Studio to the stage Nell delivers entertainment at its best, making music that fans love to hear. Even the most skeptic critics with catch themselves bobbing their heads to the raw beats and repeating the energetic hooks that Nell creates on hit song after hit song. Nell is not taking on the industry… the industry will have to take on Nell!
